If you're researching Suboxone treatment, cost is probably one of the first questions on your mind. Below is exactly what you can expect to pay at Acorn TeleMAT, including the medical visit, the medication, and practical ways to lower your out-of-pocket cost.

Cost of the Medical Visit

Acorn TeleMAT offers two simple self-pay options:

  • $99 per visit — best for stable patients who need a single visit or routine monthly follow-up.
  • $199 Care Package — up to 4 visits within 30 days for patients who need closer follow-up.

The Care Package may be a good fit if you are starting or restarting Suboxone, need dose adjustments, need support with cravings or withdrawal symptoms, or are transitioning to a buprenorphine injection such as Sublocade or Brixadi. If you expect only one routine visit, the $99 visit is usually the better choice.

You can start with a $99 visit and upgrade to the Care Package within 7 days by paying the remaining $100; your first visit counts as one of the 4 included visits. Visit fees cover your evaluation and treatment plan with our nurse practitioner. Medication and laboratory costs are not included. Unused Care Package visits expire after 30 days and cannot be rolled over or refunded.

Cost of the Medication Itself

What you pay for buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone and its generic equivalents) depends on your insurance and pharmacy benefit, your prescribed dose, the form of the medication (generic tablets or films are usually much cheaper than brand-name Suboxone), and which pharmacy you use. Paying out of pocket, generic buprenorphine/naloxone 8 mg/2 mg may be available for under $30 for a 30-day supply (30 tablets) when prescribed once daily, using a GoodRx coupon. Prices vary by pharmacy and can change, so check current pricing before you fill a prescription.

Money-Saving Tip

Compare pharmacy prices using the GoodRx app or website before filling your prescription. Prices for the same medication can vary significantly between pharmacies, even in the same city. See our Suboxone cost & insurance page for current visit pricing. For more ways to save, see our guide on lowering Suboxone costs with insurance, Medi-Cal, or GoodRx.

Self-pay visits are $99, or $199 for up to 4 visits in 30 days. Medication and lab costs are separate. Telehealth throughout California; in person in Tustin.

Does Insurance Cover Suboxone?

Acorn TeleMAT works with select insurance plans, and coverage varies by plan. Call 714-922-0017 before your appointment to verify your benefits. Your out-of-pocket cost depends on your plan's copay, deductible, and coverage; if you have a high-deductible PPO plan and would otherwise pay the full visit cost, self-pay may be more affordable. Self-pay availability may vary by insurance plan. If you don't have insurance, or prefer not to use it, self-pay visits are always available.

Ways to Lower Your Cost

There are several practical steps you can take to reduce what you pay for treatment:

  • Ask about generic buprenorphine/naloxone instead of brand-name Suboxone — the generic is typically much less expensive and works the same way.
  • Use a GoodRx-type coupon to compare pharmacy prices; it is sometimes cheaper than your insurance copay.
  • Verify your insurance benefits ahead of time by calling our office, so you know your expected cost before your visit.
  • Choose the visit option that fits your needs — $99 for routine monthly care, or the $199 Care Package if you expect several visits during induction or dose changes.
  • Ask your pharmacist about the lowest-cost option for your specific dose and formulation, since pricing can differ between tablets and films.
